2 Culture of Judo

Course Description

This module is designed to give the students an understanding of the principles and culture of Kodokan Judo as created by Jigoro Kano. The international organization against doping will be explained along with drug testing procedures. Dojo rules for health and safety of the players will be elaborated on and guide lines set.

Learning Outcomes

  • To understand the ethical principles of Olympism and judo.
  • To explain the candidates individual coaching philosophy.
  • To understand the specific safety issues of judo within a dojo.
  • To understand the WADA code.
